Catalogue of organisations, institutions and professional bodies associated with health and safety
A total of 52 relevant organisations/professional bodies were identified during the review.
These organisations were classified as being at a national, European or international level:
The majority of organisations (21 in total) were from the UK, including the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH).
Five organisations were from Spain, including Fundación Laboral de la Construcción.
One organisation was Italian, namely the National Institute for Insurance against Workplace Accidents and Occupational Disease (INAIL).
Two organisations were German, including the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
Eight organisations were identified from the USA, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR).
Two organisations were from Canada, including the Care Institute of Safety and Health Inc.
Eight organisations were classified as being European, including the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU–OSHA) and the European Network of Safety and Health Professional Organisations (ENSHPO).
Five organisations were classed as being international, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
The information covered by each of these organisations was then categorised as relating to training courses and tools (40 organisations), training programmes (23 organisations), assessment of training activities, programmes, etc (7 organisations), laws, regulations and norms (11 organisations), indicators and indexes of accidents, injuries, fatalities, workers, etc (24 organisations) and certification of training related topics (22 organisations).
